Frame dimensions and information.

Hello all,

I have a 1977 caprice that was in an accident rear quarter panel and bent the frame. I was trying to see if I can use a 1987 caprice frame and if it was the same measurements as the 1977 caprice. I have tried to look for it on the internet but luck on the 1987 caprice. If anyone can help or guide me on the right path. Thanks.

I guess it would depend on where in the rear the frame is bent. If it's bent behind the rear axle and the wheelbase is still square, you might get away with just welding in a rear frame rail. You could cut one out of another GM B body that was wrecked in the front.

If you had a photo from under the rear of the car, that may shed some light on things a bit. I'm thinking if you're able to repair the quarter panel, you may be in luck on the frame. It may be a cheaper and/or easier way to go. Just a thought.
