Frost plug fell into block. Now what?

I am in the process of tearing down a 350 chevy for a rebuild. While removing the old frost plugs, the driver's side rear plug fell into the water jacket. The plug fell toward the back of the block, and I can now barley see it. I have tried for about an hour to get a hold of it, and pull it out to no avail. I can't even get it to move, and it acts like its wedged back there. Are there any tricks on getting this thing out?

To start with if you can't get it out it's really not going to be a problem. If it's a steel plug then sometimes you can use one of the small telescoping magnets to fish it out. That will take some patience because obviously the magnet will want to stick to the block as you go. If the block is on an engine stand or even on your bench trying rolling it around a little and see if the plug will dislodge itself so you can at least see it.

I finally got it. I had to punch out the plug on the rear of the block on the same side. The plug rolled all the way to the back, and I was able to pull the plug out through the back hole. The block also had a frost plug block heater on the other side. When I removed that one, I found that the heating element fell off the plug, and I had to fish that out as well. Finally the block is ready for the machine shop.
