Fuel pressure drops after runs for a while.

Ive been having a problem with my fuel pressure gradually dropping to almost 0 when running for a short time. Its a SBC mechanical hi po Holley pump. (already replaced it didn't help) new 3/8 hard line to tank. new filter, etc. The gauge (jegs liquid filled) slowly starts to fall even while idling. And if you let it sit for a while after a heat soak and pull out hard the car falls on its face because theres no fuel in the carb. One guy said maybe sucking air some where. Ive checked the lines over very well and don't see a problem. The tank is also new. The only thing that I haven't replaced is the tank unit. (its old) and didn't have a strainer on it. Ive ordered a new one. Is there anything else that I might have missed? This problem is becoming a real pain in my *****.

There was another gentleman on here a while back that had the same issue. He found that his liquid filled gauge was causing it.

Try replacing it with a different type and see what happens.

His gauge was causing the lean condition?...Or the gauge was inaccurate? Because I have a lean condition that verifies the gauge readings.

Bingo! That link said that a liquid filled gauge will drop pressure when it gets warm. I warmed up my car, fuel gauge dropped to 0, wrapped a zip lock bag full of ice around it, pressure quickly rose up to 7psi from 0psi.. I soon as I removed the ice bag needle dropped like a stone. Im gonna drain the oil from the gauge and see what happens. I still have that leaning out problem when I restart the car from a hot soak. But this helped me out a bunch

same problem with brand new liquid filled gauge

Hey 67 Deuce, Did you ever find out the problem with the fuel gauge? The reason Im asking is that Im having the same problem with my 67 camaro. After the car warms up, the fuel pressure gauge drops all the way down to 0 psi.Im wondering if these liquid filled gauges are junk. The car doesnt run any different when gauge starts to drop. What did you do to fix the problem.

Glad my thread could help you. I ended up chasing my a** over this gauge. I was also sucking my fuel line closed so I ended up re plumbing the car and still had a fuel issue. Thats when I called Holley and the tech guy told me about the liquid filled gauges loosing pressure as they warmed up. I held the ice on it to confirm as you did and then I bought a regular gauge and haven't had the issue since. What makes you think you have a lean condition? Not questioning just asking :)
