Wanted to throw some headers on my 327. Ran inti an issue where the altnator bolts to the stock exhaust manifold. Wanted to know what I could do work this out. Other issue is a bolt is broken off in the engine head so altnator is held on by this one bolt and bracket.

If you changed the heads in the past and they have accessory holes I would install a serpentine belt system and forget any worrys with the rickety system the factory used in those days. When I still used the old school set up I was taking my now ex girl friend to the air port which was a 100 mile ride. We were on the interstate doing 75, I went to change lanes and right away felt how hard it was. I pulled over and popped the hood and found the power steering bracket had broken in 2 places and slung the belt off. So I had to drive that far and through the nightmare atlanta air port traffic with no power steering. My arms hurt for days after that.
