The business next to my work tossed a couple of these and set 'em next to the dumpster. I grabbed this one. It was the best of the bunch. Absolutely nothing wrong with it! It's a heavy duty HON. Thing weighs a ton!

When I saw it I knew immediately what I was gonna use it for! Took some measurements and sure enough, it'll fit! Into my truck it went!
Most of my corded power tools sit on these two warped corkboard shelves, next to the welding table. Not only do they get covered with grinding dust but the whole thing just looks unsightly!

Spent an hour or so after work tonight and tore out the junk shelves. Rebraced it and cleaned everything up. Fits like a glove!
Woodworking tools in the bottom drawer, metal working tools in the top. I'll probably lay some carpet or something in there as drawer liners.
Looks much better than before and now the tools are protected too!

Storage Ideas

Take a look around your workshop (or garage, we will use both these terms to mean the same thing). Where do you see the most empty space? If you are a disorganised kind of person most of your stuff will be on the floor whereas the walls will be relatively free.

It pays to make efficient use of wall space. If you visit any kind of home centre or depot you will immediately realise how well they take advantage of the wall space to display items. Getting things off the floor and into the air is one of the key principles when it comes to workshop or any other kind of storage problem solving.

Re: Here is an idea for tool storage

File cabinets make great storage, they can hold lots of weight, especially the ones you found.

I try to keep most ALL my tools in plastic tool boxes with a few exceptions, along with parts, accessories, tools for the tool, blades, disks grinding wheels and etc. That way when I need the tool I have everything I need in one box. I don't have to go looking for something in the middle of a project. It's also nice when I need a tool away from home, I can grab the box and go and know I have everything I need. The tools don't get dusty or dirty and the cords don't get tangled up or the plugs bent and destroyed.
