Hi guys figure I'd make a quick introduction here.

I've got a 64 Impala 2 door Hardtop with a 283 powerglide thats been in my family since it was new, and now I'm finally in a situation in which I can afford (time wise and financially) to do a nice resto/mod on it.

I'm 19, in the Army and I'm currently deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (never leave home without the internet :D ) so hopefully I'll be able to start the work on the Impala when I get back to the states.

****** knowledge base here has already answered a lot of questions I had, and if anyone has any links to companies specalizing in 64ish Impalas (that aren't for lowriders :pimp: )I'd appreciate em.

Have a good one.

Uber, Welcome to hotrodders.com.... Sounds like you are getting started right on your ride. Don`t know where to send you to find the information you want, but someone here surely does.

I`m proud of the job you are doing for our country, keep it up.

Good Luck
Troy

Welcome aboard! you've already accomplished the first step, but you will never be completely cured. I was afflicted about the time your old chevy was built, denied it for years, then came the realization that YOU ARE A "HOTRODDER", years of constantly craving old cars and cutting them up ensued, then the great nemisis, Drag Racing, hit me hard and for years I was drawn to the following. Reality set in with the first wife and child, but I was back to the cutting and mutilation of old cars to settle the craving. The wife couldn't handle all the Iron mistresses, but my daughter caught the bug and we together faced the problem, now I'm getting to be "Geezer"material and seriously wanting to build a drag car, when Florida Condo's should be my only concern. It's gunna get me I know, but it"s so much FUN!

Welcome aboard Noah
I think Imps are cool. If you havent already, post some pics. My bud had a 66 with the 283, glide in it. Slow off the line, but could hit 100+ before he shifted gears in it. Anyway, Thanks for keeping our country safe and good luck on your ride. HG

does anyone else see the irony of "operation enduring freedom" involving invading a country?

Congratulations, Noah, on making that decision to accept the responsibility of helping to preserve freedom for the rest of us. Some just don't see the need for what you are doing and I only pray they do not have to experience the lack of freedom that 70 % of the world pouplation knows so well. Thanks for keeping the flame. We did you car about 10 years ago and may still have some of the old catalogues laying around. I know there are some good suppliers around so will try to shoot you some info in a few days.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! (although I'm not in the 82nd :) )

I've only got a really tiny, partial shot of the Impala online, it's hiding behind my old Camaro (which I never should have sold, but that's a different story....)

I like the Army, sometimes it sucks, but I'm making better money than I was as a civillian, and getting job and life experience that are gonna be invalueable later on down the line. Plus it's always good to spend at least a few years of your life serving something greater than yourself :D

I'm not sure how the Australian Army works, but from what I understand the US/CAN/GBR/NZL and AUS pretty much run their armies in the same general fashion.

Besides, do you really have anything that much better to do ? :D
