I have a new holley DP 800 on my sbc. It all runs well but have run into a problem. I put on one of those fancy braided fuel logs and when you try for full throttle the top part ( looks like a weight) of the secondary squirter lever contacts the fuel log. I have enclosed a pic of what I am talking about. Any ideas?

strange

Front and back should be on the other side
It is correct. Rear pump shot lever is on the choke (passenger side).

It seems you have purchased an aftermarket fuel inlet line. The Holley line clears no problem.

I always make my own from braided line. I put a splitter or regulator on the fender well and run two lines over the valve cover directly into the side of the carb.

It is very common for a 50cc accelerator pump arm to hit the long tube on a forged inlet kit or fuel log. Most people stopped using 50cc arms a while ago. You have two options to eliminate this problem. 1) To bend the arm so it doesn't contact the tube. 2) use a -6AN tube instead of -8AN.

What do you mean people stopped using them? Why?

I almost never use the 50cc pumps. The times I have it has been on the primary side not the secondary. I like to use the leanest, smallest pump shot possible without creating a stumble. Most of the time I end up with the green pump cam. It has the highest initial volume. That is where you usually need the volume most.

We stoped using 50cc accelerator pumps when we were still modifing Holley carburetors back in the mid 90's most carburetor companies have stopped using them as well. They are a crutch to make up for the metering circuitry in the rest of the carburetor.
