this guy who has been building selling cars since 73 says this 69 Impala big block is the hottest car in los angeles right now. this in response to my asking if he was gonna junk it after he pulled the big block out of it. he has a 67 malibu in his garage he's putting a big block in that he says is pre sold to a car dealer near Seattle for $18,000. he paints them himself. i guess he knows what he's talking about. i wouldnt own a 69 impala or any other year impala for that matter myself, but especially not a 69 LEAD SLED like that!!! if you want something to drop and put whitewalls and a tv antenna on then okay, but if i am going to get 8 mpg i want something that goes fast. if i want a cruiser i'll drive my moms caddy.

As a young lad (LONGGGGG time ago) I had a 69 witha 327 and about 250,000 on the clock. Thing ran awesome and got about 17mpg. Smoked the tires at will !!

I think I'd have a hard time giving any more for it now than back in 78. About $400.00

I always love the guys in the beater 6 banger Camero or Mustang that dont wanna race, but they have a cousin or uncle who always somehow has a 9 sec street car that will race you. If most people realized how fast an 11 sec street car was it would scare em.
Funny how I never see em in it though. HG

whadddayy mean you don't like impalas.......(sniff sniff):(
i might not set any land speed records but my 66 moves along ok!

thems fightin words:boxing:

i'm just kidding i know impalas don't have a wide fan base. but i think i know a member who could use a good donor 69

well, first off we are not in LA we're in WASH. he's just saying he can make a gob of money on this thing. it hadda straight body. he has like 3 corvettes (and one or two COEs and lots of other cars too. he said he'd rather drive this imp over a malibu any day cause it's so much more road worthy. haha. i dont understand how he can say that and then get in his corvette and drive to work every day. a boat is a boat. F what they do in LA anyway. the people there only want that car for a low rider and they have no taste. i am amazed that one of you said you got 17 mpg with this land yaght! my dad hadda 67 bonneville and it seemed at the time it got about ten.

but the bottom line is what you picked up on, he's just totally full of ****** cause a mexican told me the hot ticket was mid 80's junk for low riders. (mexicans never lie) ondile'!

Yup, he does. Like the frog halfway down the snakes throat, he never gave up.

Big cars are excellent cruisers. I love 'em. Intown mileage may not be that great but with good tuning they do ok.

Just like what we choose to hotrod, it's a matter of personal preference.

My old '67 Catalina with high compression 400 2 Bbl. (don't believe me check it out, 10.75 to 1 with a Rochester 2 Bbl.). TH400 and 2.29 10 bolt would pull 21MPG at 65 MPH on bias ply snow tires with the AC on max. It would bury the speedo well past 120MPH in a little over half a mile, of course I was burnin' 49 cents a gallon Sunoco 260 104 Octane................ My '67 Goat got 17 highway with a 750 Double Pumper and 3.55 gears if I stayed out of the secondaries ! That didn't happen much though........

Personally I'd love to find a good clean '65-'69 full size Chevy to drop my 454 into. FWIW back in the day one of the fastest street cars around here was a '65 Impala with an L-88 out of a '68 Vette. Surprised many a Chevelle and Camaro owner.

My 66 Caprice wants your 454 and it doesn't care about MPG!

The mid-60's Impalas, Caprices, Biscaynes, Belairs, etc. get a bad rap, but I don't think there's much difference between the GM makes, i.e. a Pontiac Tempest or a (insert what the similar Buick/Olds name was).

There's a 66 2-door Imapla SS with a 427 around here that's not too shabby. Might even be more badder'n the one in LA!

way too long for too little 4jaw. that guy had to be the biggest loser on the planet. temporary tatoos to intimidate the cops and wax absorbing radar. i just cant believe nobody flat out called him a total ahole. you know i wasted 15 minutes of my life listening to that just waiting for someone to do it and they never did. ugh.

I took many a person for rides around town and one thing they never said was it was slow....????

But, not everybody has a 390 horse 427.... It is a biiig body with A/C....
Not as light as a Nova but, it still gets the job done.
