I use some cheap spring clamps I found at HF to hold the cover on tight during windy days around here. Works for the neighbors cats too. Just clamp the cover to the underside of the car body at several locations all around. Kind of a pain when you want to take the cover off but better than cat claws on the paint.

J/K! If your cat is anything like one of ours, it'll only be a matter of time and his 9 lives will expire, and the tenth one won't be there. Sooner or later it'll step in a glue trap, get closed in a garage, run across the busy street...... You get the picture. Besides, most cats only live, what, 15 to 20 years tops. Keep the valuable cars in the garage with a clamped-on car cover, and keep an eye out for the sneak attack visitor.

Years ago, my dad used to put rubber snakes in his little garden to keep them out and that seemed to work.

 

Ok, no real help, but shooting the cat is an option. My father, he never put up with any crap. He was a car salesmen and we always had a nice new demonstrator in the driveway. One of the cats had found his way onto the car a couple of days in a row. One morning on his way out in this suit and tie, you guessed it. The cat was there, on the hood. He went back in the house, got his 22 pistol and shot the car right on the hood!


Now understand, I have a cat that our family loves so much, if he were getting on my Vicky, I don't know what I would do either.

our one dog still hasnt learned that if she does her high jumps on the pergo floor, she Wont land on her feet .... i watch her jump to counter level and land in a heap on the floor EVERY DAY !

If the apple doesn't work you might want to try the water pistol routine. This is a lot of work on your part but it will work because cats hate getting wet. Set the cat in the garage and sit back with a water pistol. When it approaches the car give it a shot of water and then get it out of the garage. A little while later put the car in the garage and sit back and give it another shot. Do this several times over three or four days and when you put the cat in the garage it won't come close to the car. I use this tactic on the neighbors cat when it comes over to use our flower garden as a litter box. Good luck! Even if it didn't work it would still be fun. :thumbup:

That reminds me of about 10 years ago, before I knew how to paint, I had a friend paint my truck and I was so proud of how it looked. We had it in his shop putting the final touches on it when his cat climbed onto the truck and jumped up onto the roof. When it got bored on the roof it jumped back down onto the hood. But when it landed on the hood it slid and the claws came out leaving 5 inch claw marks in a NEW paint job. It's even worse when it's someone else's cat,,,,,,,,,they ALWAYS get mad when kick their cat.

Reminds me of a joke a stand up comedian told once while we were in Vegas.

Guy moves in with his girlfriend and they buy a whole room full of nice furniture. Problem is the cat starts clawing the furniture. They try everything to get it to stop. Finally the girlfriend consults a cat person. The cat person says buy a water gun and everytime the cat starts to claw squirt him with the water gun. After a week or so of this the cat will stop clawing the furniture. She relays this information to her boyfriend and he replies' hell we'll get a pellet gun and teach the cat TONIGHT not to claw the furniture.

Cats hate the smell of mothballs. Get a pack of mothballs and put them in a couple of old socks. Place them right inside the lip of the car cover or safety pin them on the inside edge near the bottom. That should deter the cat from wanting to climb under the cover.

Local law enforcment says you can shoot them with a pellet rifle as long as the projectile doesn't leave your property. I shot them until I missed and broke one windshield glass on my 47 Ford.
