you have already started. friends helping friends is what it is all about.
most car clubs have to many rules. you should just keep it simple and have fun.
if you would like help organizing your club, you can contact either Goodguys or N.S.R.A.. they use to have booklets that spelled out the steps.

as far as picking a name, just go with hte one you like the most. finding one that has never been used will be next to impossible- there were five Cambusters car clubs in the `60's and no one had any problem with it.

reicking a name

Back in the early 60's we had a club in SE Pa. called the "Shiftiliers",since I came up with the name and designed the logo go ahead and use it.

 

I am a member of a small car club of about 50 members.
We called our club the "Mountainview Pistons"

There are insurance issues, etc involved in holding shows, etc.

I can't speak for our president, but you could try contacting him with a few questions. He's a good guy, and has helped answer a few questions for anothe new club that started up about 45 miles north of us.

Funny you should ask about this. Check out the list of car clubs in the SF bay area where I live from April 1960. Pretty cool!

There was/is (sort of) a speed shop called "Vic Hubbards" that has an amazing collection of club plaques on the wall of the lobby. This is an old photo, I can't find a newer one. But they had all the local clubs in this photo from the early sixties.

If you aren't going to collect membership fees (dues), then you don't need to register as a non-profit organization.

Forming a "club" of people just getting together for enjoyment and helping each other, you don't need to follow any "articles of association" and develop by-laws. Once money is involved, then you need to file for non-profit status, elect officers, have meetings that include financial reports and follow the order of the articles.

Leave out the money, keep it simple and have fun.

You can adopt most any assumed name.

Keep it simple. I quit joining "clubs" years ago. Friends getting together is great! Once you start making it a "job" the fun part goes in the toilet and your friends find other friends to just hang out with...
Hang out, have some cook outs and meet up at the local cruise nights. That's all you need to do.

Haha, this post reminded me of a club a few buddies and I started in high school. We had low riders and we were the "Ground Bound Minis". Had vinyl on the rear windows and all......ahhhh good times.

 

I don't know about this club business. Apparently I'm in one and I don't even remember joining!

The other day my wife looked me in the eye and said,

"Well you joined them!"I was completely mystified and asked,"Joined who?"

"The A**hole Club and you're President!"

When I was in high school I was in a club....with one other guy. We were Portuguese and club was "Ported", get it? "Ported" like Port-uguese? Get it?

Anyway, I drew up a club plague and that's as far as I got. That drawing is hanging in my garage.

My buddy who was the other member passed away a couple of years ago. RIP Mark.

All you need to know.....

 

I'm in 3 car clubs consisting of membership ranges from 540, 227 and 23. What is the intent and goal of the Club you want? Will you have membership dues, By-Laws, Corporation status, etc.

 

I joined the local mustang club just after I bought mine in 98, I didn't last long, strange bunch of guys that were obsessed with mustangs, mines just a car I love to drive in the summer. My life doesn't revolve round a car. I have a couple of mates with V8s as well so we just do our own thing.
