I have a 71 plymouth with 340, basically stock with aftermarket intake and carb. has 727 3 speed automatic with 3.91 open gears in the back.
I would like to take my car to the strip to test it once, but once i hit a certain rpm i get worried that i will blow something. Plust with the 3.91, i get up to about 90mph and i feel like i should drop down cause rpm's are pretty high and my car is vibrating like mad.
first off, what is a limit to put the rpms up to on this type of engine. i heard from many that the 340 is like the hemi of small blocks because it can withstand high rpm's. I just don't want to go to the strip and let off on the gas half way through cause i am worried. nor do i want to have a $1000+ problem if i mess something up.
also, the high vibrations i get, could the just be from the exhaust rather than the driveshaft?
