I have been into hot rods since my childhood playing with HOT WHEELS !

Lately I have noticed my Illness(HOTROD FEVER) is in the advance stages AND Progresses daily. I can be talking to my boss about business and my mind will drift to the next modification on my current project (color, material, appearance etc. of that mod. I am a Construction Superintendent I was talking to my electricians about the unit they are wiring and my mind started drifting to wiring a car from scratch HOW MY MIND RELATES THINGS!!! My best case in point is I can be driving down the road with my family see an old vehicle sitting at a house or business , and I am immediately drawn to does it say FOR SALE, if not do they want to, If I had it what modifications I would do it's kind like seeing a pretty blonde you lose your whole conversation with the wife! Now I am so bad I look at some things totally unrelated to our hobby and start to ask myself how I could use that in a cool way in my next project!!!!!
If that Isn't a sickness than I don't know what is and I am only 34
hopefully it will get even worse in my future years

I have an addiction to old rusty metal, doesn't really matter what it is. I see old abandoned machinery and I wonder what stories it could tell.

I went shopping with the wife today and she drove so I was able to rubber neck without her yelling at me to watch the road. WE went down a stretch of recently opened road and the weeds were starting to thin out and back through the trees I saw the silhoutte of an early 50's Studebaker............ Damn right I'm going back! ;)

Speaking of Hotwheels, I was at the store today and went in the toy section to see what they had for diecast. Well Hotwheels has reissued some of the 60's series. Original style wheels even. But of course, they're overpriced.

Lost half my collection playing in the mud as a kid. Gotta say, in spite of the price and them being reissued, it was nice seeing them brand new and all.

I too have the addiction, exactly as you describe it. I am constantly looking in the backs of peoples houses, in fields, tucked away in the tall weeds!! The only cure I know of is to keep building!!! Just an FYI for those looking for a project car, There is a guy that has many old cars trucks all makes and models and conditions. It's about 20 min north of Hattiesburg MS. in a little town called Seminary right on HWY 49 it is on the south bound lane side of 49. Next time I'm through there I'll try to get the phone number. But it's best just to take a road trip. NO!!! He will not sell parts off anything, he only sells them whole!! I asked, cause I wanted the front clip on a 54 MERC Monterey, DANG IT!! It was in near perfect shape too. Anyway Seeya Brian

I , too , find myself with the sickness you describe. ( I work construction , too. ) It comes from deep within , so I figure God put it there. I can't leave nothin stock. Nothin'......

Even my guitars get custom paint and body mods. They're not perfect , but they are 1 of a kind !
