Have you ever noticed that if you talk to ricer he has a friend who lives nowhere's near you that has a JDM that does the quarter in the low nines i'm not talkin about true import tuners so don't get p@#ed or if they drive some rusty import with a fart can they "work's" been done to it? this has happened to me twice same story different cars, if i hear one more i'm gonna pounce. one more thing before i continue if someone comes on here bashin me i'm gonna assume that you're a ricer not a tuner.Anyhow true story when i worked at shults a ricer came to work there didn't like me cuse i'm a domestic fan well anyhow he had a rusty integra with a fartcan with "work" done to it  i was drivin my olds 98 at the time, he called me out i said OK you just wanna race for fun no money? he said oh no i wanna race for cash, i said OK how does $300 sound? he said OK. Well it was his last week at the shop so we established that when he came to pick up his check we would finalize on when we would go to the strip well he came up to get his check and he did'nt say one word to me or look at me but after work i standin by my car havin a smoke lettin it warm up and he went through the parkin lot by me with his G/F and revved on me, I just smiled at him.

I like all things with a motor! Imports included.
I know what your saying about the ricers though.. Only they don't just drive imports. I have seen to many (riced out) mustangs and camaros!
You know what I am talking about too. V6. Huge wing, ground effects, heavy sparkly wheels. Lots of money put in the wrong places.

A lot of the really fast import guys will have a stock looking car that you (or the cops) would never expect to blow your doors off.. The money is under the hood where it should be.

I know exactly what your talking about wierdbeard. I see those mustangs and camaros around here all the time. I built a supra that i tried to keep as stock looking for smog reasons. The only thing I couldnt hide was the 3.5" exhaust. Its the only car I ever regret selling. I have seen plenty on fast imports. The real ones are mostly in the valley where if you run 12's your too slow.

Ricers take it on the bum ps

Just HAVE to join the hate ricers club, cause I do.
They don't call'em ricers for nothing, hope they got plenty cash to replace that ricebox engine every year or so.
I wish they throw some money my way, I need it, I mean putting it into Hotwheel $0.99 designs is beyond wasting money. Bump the curb ? That'll cost you $5000 per wheel. But given most of the cities are bumps, potholes and ugly roads, they pay with their A__ for it. :D
You can't take it to the track, it will not last 5min. in top speed, it's ugly as hell and they ALL look the SAME, so what's the point ???
Fart Can is the same as putting a broken plastic cup in your bicycle's spikes to make the noise to get the look, 12y.o. stupid kids (I was one but I grew up). I'll keep my Sleeper comfy ride for the city thank you.
Once I am rich enough to race, I'll build one just for that purpose.

To me "po-ta-toe,po-ta-toe,po-ta-toe,"always sounded better than
IMHO!!
That is what some say a Harley sounds like, a V-8 does not say potato. They crack and pop ....

Let me get this right ..... so in the world of 2000 if one has different taste and an allegiance to something they are haters .... WELL count me in . I have a backbone and the guts to express an opinion, of MY likes and dislikes, if one thinks it is hate speech , so be it.. And if you are without an opinion then you are not only weak but boring also.

Some folks have really lost there ability to be an individual, always with the flock .............. neutered is another word

As to ricers ........ never even notice them, cartoon cars big wing & stupid wheels, oh yeah do not forget the colored wiring... GRRR-OSS! highlighting wire looms! Man seen some fast looking wire looms out there ..

Funny story, pulled into a real coffee shop, got one to go and the kid (moron with self esteem) behind the counter starts to tell me about a cool car he saw, 3 wheeled , my comment to the visionary was "Yeah just like the big wheel you road, built for a 3 year old. Thought you would have out grown it by now, the other guy working with him fell on the floor with laughter.

I am all for promoting this hobby ........ But if you come up to me with moronic ideas I will let you know about it, just cause someone creates it does not automatically give it passage to the cool room .... crap is crap some just come in different colors

Did I hurt any delicate feeling out here TOO BAD... call yo mama

I'm your Huckelberry!. Label me what you will. Sounds like you was wanting and expecting an argument. 04 RX8 T618Z Greddy...blaugh blaugh. Why would you even start a thread like this? Had nothing else to do?

LOL's....Guess he can blind fold us at the same d@mn time. Guess no-one can just be a good ole 'car enthusiast'. LOL's. Might as well label me in there too domestic.....

Guess what gets my goat is....I've seen more of what you might concider 'stupid' done to domestic cars over the years. Moding in the import scene is still IMO rather new. I've seen a lot of young folk when I was growing up doing some really odd things to their Chevelles, 53 Ford pickups, and Roadrunners. I'd start describing what I meant....including all of the "....my buddys 69 camaro was soo fast you couldnt grab a $100 bill off of the dash" remarks from a guy that actually has never been in a fast car in his life..... and so on...but then I'd be a hater too I guess. People do what they can afford....in most cases....just to help make life a little more worth living for themselves....even if most would concider it stupid.

Why would our moderators even let this thread run its coarse? Isnt there enough hate in our every day lives without it ending up in here....I bet most enjoy this site without it.

I prefer to call them "posers" and they are in every aspect of the auto enthusiast scene. Plenty of Mustang and Camaro "posers" around here too!

We are letting it run its course so you "Rodders" learn sumthin. :p

Since I live just South of "domesticsrule" I can pay him a visit sometime and show him the "hotrodder way".

I would just like to ask him how many shows in this area he has has HIS car in?

I have been to Peek-N-Peak 3 times, the informal get togethers at the Lakewood Walmart twice (usually a bad timing for me to attend), the Sugar Grove car show twice, Youngsville twice, Warren twice, Sheffield 3 times, Bradford 4 times, Smethport 3 times, Tidioute twice, as well as a dozen others that just got me out there mingling with all kinds of fellow hotrodders.
After the first few shows, I started wearing my Hotrodders.com t-shirt at EVERY show to promote the site here, and met hundreds of interesting fellow hotrodders.

Won a second place at Sheffield, and third place at Tidioute, and haven't even had the car started in almost 2 years now because of my job.

Hopefully he's easier to understand in person than the occasional ramblings here in the forums. Domesticsrule, come on down here to Warren County where the gas is much cheaper and lets meet up, the mall is dead, but walmart's booming, lets stop into BK for a burger and chat a while, you'll just have to wait until I'm home next time (just before Thanksgiving). You'll get to actually meet a Hotrodders.com MOD!!!

Even if I don't like the other persons' car, I still respect the effort they put forth to make it what THEY want. That's the hotrodders spirit.

I've heard many time someone knocking on my car because it's a sedan, but hey- It's still a hotrod, I'll gladly sit through a day long car show next to anything just to be there. I've sat next to an AMC Pacer, Vega station wagon, Chevette, and dozens of other cars that I couldn't help but to look at twice with a little respect that they are not rusted out and sitting in a junkyard somewhere, but getting the respect of someone showing an inkling of interest in it.

Thats what I'm talking about. I understand that we all have our opinions....but to intentionally bash some poor kid that make $5/hr, trying to get ahead in life, and make life a little more tollerable for himself/herself....well I just cant stay quiet. Sorry man....guess I'm sort of bashing you too. Not my intention though.

It's all personal preference. I bought an 87 honda civic SI as a commute car after beating both my 69 and 70 Mustangs and my 72 Ford truck into the ground driving 130 miles every day back and forth to work.

That little POS honda car went around corners better, stopped better, drank WAY less gas had better seats and heater and withstood as much abuse and was as fun to drive as any domestic car I ever owned.

We finally gave it away after it had 345000 miles on it, and the only time I had to work on it was when my wife ran it out of oil at 155000 miles using it as her commute car,(needed a head and cam, but I threw a set of rings and bearings in it using just a ball hone on the bores and some 320 grit sandpaper on the crank)..That lasted another 100K miles...then another when my daughter broke a timing belt and bent a bunch of valves... I replaced that motor with a 150.00 junkyard motor..per the current owner, it still runs. :)

I have a 91 acura integra, bought used with 101000 miles, now with 248000 miles on it, and never have had the head off or the trans out..It still gets 32 MPG, passes smog and will pull that 4 door to well over 120 mph. :)
I can see why people like those cars. I have no problem with the cars themselves, but sometimes the people go a little overboard with the bling and BS. I have no wings or spinners and both cars were/are bone stock. Yes, IMO, fart cans are totally stupid, but modifications always start with the easiest option...(how many here bought a car and the first thing they did was put dual exhaust and glass packs? :welcome: For a proven minimal gain in performance, but a big gain in nothing other than noise.)

BTW, Honda has several assembly plants here in the US, and keeps alot of folks working here.

I have a Harley too, but if I want to have some fun, I borrow my kids 750 honda.

It's the way of the future, our kids are the future, get over it.
