i was wondering what a manual vavle body would do to my automatic tranny. does it give your auto. tranny more of a manual shift pattern? i was just wondering, somebody told me i needed to get one for my 73 monte. thanks alot!

A full manual valve body is just that.... manual shifts only.

The tranny is in what ever gear you have the shifter in.

There are also forward or reverse shift patterns,

IE:

P R N 3 2 1 or the reverse pattern is; P R N 1 2 3

ok let me get this...... i have a floor shifter in my 73 monte, and i can drop it in low gear ( the pattern reads P R N 3 2 1 ) and i can just hit the shifter forward to shift gears whenever i feel like hitting the next gear. is that a manual vavle body? thanks alot!

Thats about it, but you basicly have that now, plus the advantage of just leaving it in drive, if you little heart so desires.

Put a shift kit in it to improve the shifts and leave it at that.......just my 2 cents

i have a shift kit in it right now, i can get a nice 2nd gear scratch in it. and i have 3.73 gears in it right now, i am running about 3200-3500 on the highway.so i think that a 3500 stall would be decent. and i will have a custom one built, i had my 2500 custom built. and its pretty nice.
