I need one steel wheel for an engine stand that I am repairing and I need one rear steel wheel that is fixed to a solid axle. Any ideas for replacements or does someone have one they would sell? Or know of a manufacturer that sells replacement parts?

I'd probably replace them all and weld on a matched set of casters from harbor freight. Then they all match
Yes, but i can't do that the way the stand is built. If I just welded 4 casters on the stand would be tipped forward. Here is a link of a stand that's identical.

You can see that the rear of the stand sits lower than the front. I contacted tools USA and they said there was no way to get replacement parts since all this mass produced crap is made overseas.
The only way I can see to do what you suggested is buy to small casters for the rear and two large casters for the front. But the rear is where most of the weight rests and small caster probably wouldn't support the weight

Make spacers from 2x2 square tubing for the front......You can even make it wider for better stability.

If you have access to a metal lathe, just turn one out of billet.
No access to billet? Make up a blank from something steel and close in OD. Fill in the center as necessary to fit the axle.
Concerned about appearances? Make two alike.
If you need an axle, use a Grade 8 bolt.
Don't forget Grainger, Carr, MSC, or.........eBay!

Grainger or Fastenal can likely order you one or matched pair from Faultless. They have solid sintered iron wheels from 2" dia to 4" dia.

Grainger, had the wheels that I needed. Though it was tough to match the 1.5"x3" wheel with a 1/2" axle we found one set of wheels out of 1000 wheels that fit the size and load criteria. I bought 2 at $9 each and they are rated at 600 lb each wheel so the stand would fail before the wheel ever would.

" Sir, all of our products are built over seas and no replacement parts are available since our products are made as throw aways". If it breaks discard it and buy another one

You are probably right...........But, even if the thing was built here, what parts, other than the head, need "replacement parts"?quick50stng said:

An engine stand is such a simple outfit and so inexpensive I can understand why parts are not avaliable and in fact I would have been suprised if they were. I would think that about the only parts that would need replacing that could not be easily built would be the wheels (and how often would even these need replacing?) and as you found these are avaliable as off-shelf items.

the good thing to doing my VW with my grandpa is that he has alot of tools
that he made up to work on them with..
you know the little half end wrenches.. i dunno what they are called.. he
invented it 40 years ago because there wasnt enough room to get around
the whole bolt on VW's.. on his 1979 honda civic.. we couldt get the battery
without taking the selonid out and we had to make a wrench with a bench
grinder..

There ya go...........I have a whole drawer of mutillated wrenches........just cant remember why I "adjusted" them........Actually, a lot of them were my dads, he was an old German and loved his bugs too.
