I have an 87 Suburban 4X4 that has a Tx problem. Was driving it the other day and with the shifter in O/D..all of a sudden I had nothing..just like it was in neutral. When you put it in reverse it is normal. In 1,2,3 it "shudders" when taking off even at low throttle pressure. Once it gets moving it shifts OK except that I still have no O/D. It is a Mr. Goodwrench tx that has about 24K on it but the 36 months has expired. Any ideas? TIA

WDk, sounds like the tranny needs to come out.

The converter is not your problem. If the converter was the problem the tranny would not function well in reverse.

As mentioned the tranny is probably broken in the forward sprag/friction area of the input drum. The over-run frictions are probably transfering most of the power and they are small frictions.
