Hellow guys, I was wonderin whats the difference between a Polyurethane Clear Coat(with hardener) vs 2K Urethane Clear Coat, I am not paint expert but I have used both, and it seems that the 2k its way way more toxic I tryed to paint it without mask and I got sick very quickly...

here is my problem, I working on small but high quality Jobs so I tryed SprayMax Aerosol Clear Coat(2K Urethane)...I must say the quality is very good but I am worry about the health hazard, so I tryed Sherwin W. Polyurethane automotive clear coat with hardener and it seems the smell is just like normal paint?.. but it hardenes real fast and its of good quality also....what the main difference?

you are a fool if you are spraying anything without a good mask. if so sell all your equipment and seek a different job. geez we knew better 40 years ago.
I am not a pro so I use regular dust mask and I use an Air Brush....I just wanted the shine and durability of automotive paints, but I will use sherwin williams for now, as their cured Polyurethane clearcoat dont seem too dangerous...

How about Enamels? I heard if you put a hardener it makes them more durable to scratches

They all should kill you at about the same rate.

BUY a MASK.

Smell has nothing to do with danger, as the most dangerous items in there usually have no smell and the blend of solvents is what gives the products its unique smell.
you got that right....I will buy one big expencive mask....

so No difference with polyUrethane vs 2K Urethane in overal durability?

this has got to be a troll............. nobody can be this dumb. your gonna die . understand ? i don't care what you spray it will kill you. lacquer ,enamel, urethane even latex . if you cant follow the safety procedures on the can get out of the business while you can. a dust mask is useless. go to napa and buy a 3m mask for gods sake !

There is a difference.
Polyurethanes are generally a little tougher than just a urethane but the
terms are so loosly used it's hard to know for sure what it really is.
Most auto clears are urethanes. SPI brand clear is a poly,
I doubt if you'll ever be able to tell the difference on cars.
I think the poly is one of the few rated for aircraft, it has to pass
a test resisting hydraulic fluid for a certain time period.
It's called the "skydrol test" :pimp:

PS. It's not when you die you need to worry about,
It's HOW you die. Some ways are much longer and more painful
than others. Especially when you're paralyzed.
