It will look good until birds crap on it a few times.

 

It can look good for a while, but will not last. It will get chalky, and fade. It was never meant to hold it's color in the sun, or to keep from being broken down from being exposed to sun and weather.

 

welll in theory couldnt you just spray it down once a week?

 

Epoxy primer gets chalky faster than 2K urethane. You don't want to spray urethane every week unless you like playing with poison.

 

Yes you could spray it down once a week, buuutttt... it's the taping the car off that's the hard anoying part. I know that I personally would never want to do that. Tape/primer will start getting expensive after each week.

 

Why not just spray it with urethane and a flattening agent and fiorget about it?

Have you used any of thier products? What kind of quality are the tinted primers and the urethane top coats?

 

Yes, I have used a lot of their stuff and have been pleased with everything I've used. I was hooked with kameleon paint and I was so pleased I slowly started using more and more of their stuff.

The colored primer is really nice. It can really save some time and material when you apply your color. Some people prefer the shades of grey approach and they have that to but when I am spraying bright yellows and reds the bright yellow and red is perfect. I sprayed the bright red sealer the other day and then put one coat of their code T red base over it and it was covered.

I have used the single stage urethane and it was pretty nice. I prefer base/clear so I use the KemBase kits primarily.

 

I want to use a flat silver. I noticed they sold silver tinted urethane primer. I asked a few different places and I was told if I didn't use a clear coat it would mar easy. I don't want the finished look. I was told if I used a satin clear it would still have some gloss to it. They sell the flatning agent, I am wondering how it would work with the single stage silver.

 

I have shot some flatener in a white single stage enamel (Once). It sounds like you are after the same thing I was after. I wanted an oxidized look on my 72 Chevy. Anyhow, like I said, I tried it once and must of missed out on the secret. I followed the instructions, but the finished product was very modeled or should I say uneven. It was all very flat, but some places more than others and some places very chaulky. I thought it would be easier than gloss, but that was not the case. I sanded it off and went without the flatener.

 

They have flat aluminum in rattle cans. I wonder why they can't make it so you can put it on with a gun. If someone makes it, I can't find it. If I could get a few years out of the tinted primer I might even use that.
