Pull straps '88 C1500

I just picked up a 1988 C1500 Silverado. The driver's side pull strap is broken and an Internet search makes it look like they are made of unobtabium.

Any sources for this part? I'm also open to any other GM or non_GM strap that would work. It's about 8-1/2" on center between the holes (ruler for scale). It doesn't look like a good part to add a piece to be welded; it would likely fracture again at the weld and trying to anneal it would melt the plastic (if the weld already hadn't done that)..

Yes. That's the one that's broken. For now, I've swapped it for the passenger side.

There are several other places out there as well. Plus you can also check local salvage yards.

Sure hope that puppy isn't blue in color. I see you're located at Va. Beach, I'm just north of Richmond. I bought an '88 that was the worst vehicle I have ever owned. If it could break something it did. Only kept it for about 15 months and traded for an '89 Ford. For years and years I would get letters and cards from different dealerships thanking me for letting them work on my 1988 Chevy Truck! Good luck!

Have you checked for NOS pieces from GM Dealer Parts Department??...may still be available that way, '88-98 Truck.
