Hi folks,

does anyone have a manual (installation, tuning, adjustment...) for a QF SS-series carb?
Although adjustment of the carb is pretty basic there might be one or two details I'm not aware of.

Thanks!

FYI - I finally got a reply from Quick Fuel:

We apologize for letting your email slip by. There is not a manual for the SS carburetor as it functions exactly as every other modular carburetor does - with that said there are several exceptional books on the market pertaining to modular carburetors and we have no reason to publish one at the time.

So, there is no manual.
In hindsight I wonder why I bought this rather expensive carb - since it functions exactly as every other modular carburetor. Guess I can look for something cheaper from another company next time.
I also wonder why the other companies (Holley, Edelbrock,...) are making the effort to actually write manuals for their products. Since there are several exceptional books on the market - what a waste of time... ;)

Quick Fuel is not a manufacturer. They are a tuner. Why would you ever expect a company that blueprints and tunes holleys to have a manual printed. They are exactly correct. Any good book on Holleys will help you out.
Thanks, but I'm aware that these are modified Holley carbs. IMHO their 'mod-level' could justify a tuning/adjustment-manual. But anyway...
Since Holley offers a comprehensive tech-library I also asked QF which Holley-carb would be the most 'design-compatible' to the SS680. But they didn't answer that question.

"680 CFM Vacuum Secondary Street Carburetor - designed for street strip applications. Jet extensions and notched float make this carburetor strip ready while 4-corner idle, electric choke, adjustable secondary housing, and screw-in air bleeds help tune it for the street. All the features of our race carburetors merged into one street-friendly package"

Right from the Quick Fuel website. Any book that details how to tune a 650-750 cfm vacuum secondary Holley will work. Really? What do you see in the above that sounds like magic?

Although I have to admit that this was my first (tuned) Holley carb I agree that there was nothing magic about it.
OTOH I had a problem with it - the primary bowl was frequently flooding. This at least hinted to a needle&seat problem and to be on the safe side I also thought it would be a good idea to order a complete rebuild kit and a new float.
I had explained this problem a couple of times to their 'tech support' but never got a reply. Then I contacted their sales dep. and asked them for the part numbers (mentioned above). No reply.
So, from my point of view (as an 'unenlightened'...) at least a 'service part list' (if not a proper manual) would have been nice. Btw, that was the reason why I started this thread a couple of weeks ago.
Finally a guy from Summit gave me those part numbers.

Since I don't want to leave this thread as 'the German whiner who has no clue' -
when I finally got the parts from Summit (QF don't ship overseas) I changed the needle&seat but that didn't help at all. Fuel still sprayed thru the fuel vent.
So I disassembled the primary fuel bowl to check the float and the hanger. No apparent problems there but (precautionarily) I also changed the float.
The 'old' (brass) float was OK but since then the problem _seems_ to be gone. I still have mixed feelings about the carb though - regardless of a manual... ;)
