Hello My Name Is Craig I Have Recently Rebuilt My Rochester I Have Seen 2 Problems Since I Have Removed The Metering Rod And Now Cannot Find Anywhere What The Correct Settings Could Be Or At Least In The General Ball Park I Know That It Can Be Set By A Shadetree Mechanic Because In Older Rebuilds It Told Me But New Kit Says Factory Set And Not To Tamper With It. And I Noticed While I Had Lid Off As I Pressed The Accelerator Down That Fuel Shot Out Of The Driver Side Bank Of Carb And Barley Shot Out Of Passenger Side Of Car I Imagine Its Clogged Is There Good Way To Fix These Two Problems Im Rackin My Brain And Gas Mileage Is Killin Me
I Have An 82 Chevy 1/2 Ton With A 350 Engine And Its A Rochester 4bbl Carb Any Advice Would Be Appreciated I Dont Have The Money To By A New Or Reman Right Now Just Tryin To Get By With What Ive Got.

Even if you removed the metering rods the adjustment is still there.
I think its called "part throttle adjustment screw".
If you messed with that screw then I would take it back apart and look at metering rods for a shiny spot and try to get adjustment close by holding power valve down and adjust height so shiny spot is aligned with jet openning.

Theres also a tool made for adjusting PTA screw through top of carb.

To get best mileage first make sure your timing set right, then go to town playing around with metering rods, jets, and turning that screw. :D

This book is a requirement if you want to mess around with Rochester carbs.

When I Rebuilt It I Cleaned Everything So Finding A Shiney Spot Isnt Going To Work. Im Trying To Find An Actual Adjustment My Carb Is Popping Real Bad And Bogging Down Im Not Sure If Its The "a.p.t. Screw" Or Not I Looked All Over The Net Last Night And All I Could Find Was This Article About Edelbrocks Mock Up Of A Quadrajet And He Said His Setting Was 2 Full Turns Out Which I Did This Morning And Seems Real Responsive Now But Still Have The Popping And Damn Near Stalling If I Push The Throttle Down These Screws Are Adjustable If The Factory Can Set Them Why Cant I Find Anything Anywhere On What The Correct Adjustment Should Be. It Almost Feels As Though Im Not Getting Enough Fuel But Everytime I Take The Plate Off The Bowl Is Full I Have Rebuilt These In The Past And They Turned Out Great But This One Is Just A Pain.
