Needless to say, I am a skeptic when it comes to ads about products, but for the money, I had to try this stuff. All I can say it is incredible. My project has surface rust and I was going to get it sandblasted. I thought before I did that, I would try this product for $12.99 a quart. WOW! It really works and is easy, quick to use. I did 2 control arms this morning in about 1/2 hour. Look at the before / after results.

If I tell you, I have to kill you then.:nono::thumbup: All kidding aside, it is called 3X Rust Dissolver and, I did make a mistake, it is $13.99 per quart. I bought it from Speedway, part number 307-99024, and I can't say enough good about it. The stuff really works. I have a whole lot of surface rust on my whole project just from sitting. Has never been outdoors, but sitting unprimed and unpainted. I didn't even have to wire brush or anything. I bought a whole pack, 20, of cheap 2" foam brushes from Wally World (Wal-Mart) for $3.97 Bruch this stuff on and you can immediately see it dissolving the rust. I let it sit about 1/2 hour, keeping it wet as directed on the bottle. When all is dissolved, I use paper towels to wipe off. Then wipe off again with mineral spirits. Walla. ready to prime. By the way, I did my whole rear axle housing, 4 bars, 2 brake drums and 2 front control arms on just a little less than a quart. That also included practicing first on some old scrap pieces of metal.

I buy 5 pound bags of citric acid (used in food processing grade) and it works well. The mix I like is 1 pound to 5-gallons of water. And it is CHEAP.

I've dipped control arms, bumper brackets, loads of small parts (in a pool skimmer basket) and after a few days the rust washes off easily with a plastic brush.

I use old cat litter plastic containers and have a bigger 20-gallon Rubbermaid tub. I did the front of my hood recently in a bigger container (under the bed storage unit).

But whatever you find and share helps us all.

Thanks for sharing. I guess there are other things out there, but I saw this and said, what the Hell, I will not be out that much if it doesn't work. Hopefully, I will have my chassis finished by next week and can go on to assembly, of the complete chassis. Then, in the fall and winter, work on getting the body set up properly. Hope the results I see now, with my running gear, shows with the rest of the car.

How will you apply it to your frame. I assume that you brush it on. Then what ?

OK. I use cheap, cheap Wally World 2" foam brushes, 20 for $3.97. Apply the dissolver, let it do it's magic, wipe off with rags or paper towel and let dry a few minutes. Then I wipe off again with mineral spirits or acetone. Let dry, prime and paint. Easy and quick.

Progress

This week, I feel I accomplished quite a bit. Derusted the whole chassis and applied two coats of primer, allowing it to dry 24 hours between coats. plan tomorrow is, try to add one coat of chassis black. Will see what happens. By the way, I used a little less than 2-1/2 quarts of the deruster on the project. That included doing the complete chassis, 4 front control arms, 2 rear brake drums, 4 bars, for my rear end and the complete rear axle housing. At $13.99 per quart and some, not much, elbow grease, I had an outlay of $46.00, which included my bag of 20 cheap foam brushes from Wally World.
