Currently looking at a 37 ford coupe, question is that it currently has a small block Chevy in it and if purchased I would like to swap to a small block ford engine.....possibly a 351 stroker engine.

What would be required for this swap other than the obvious engine and tranny.

I am thinking driveshaft yoke and possibly the ac compressor bracket, alt bracket and accessory brackets. And headers as well obviously.

Just not sure about the transmission mount locations and things of that nature.

More importantly will it even fit physically.

Car currently has a Mustang II front end in it.

Was not sure about the oil pan sump either.

Any input or help would greatly be appreciated before I attempt to go down this “rabbit hole” LOL.

Thanks in advance

Fords are more work, sometimes the Mustang Ii kit crossmembers have to be modified because of the front sump oil pan and the rad to fan can be a problem. There are good reasons for chevy engines being the most common swaps. ,I got a lot of static back years ago when I was an engineer at Ford and drove a Buick Nailhead powered Willys to work most days. But It had a 9 in Ford rear, Ford T 85 trans and Ford wagon front brakes

Maybe not, one advantage is the Ford having a front mounted distributor. Another thing like Chevy's the Ford SBF's also had a long and a short water pump. The early short pump and matching harmonic balancer were used on 1965-69 289's that had the 28 ounce balance factor which the 351W has always had as well. Here is a thread I did years back (see post #5) https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/sbf-short-water-pump-pulleys.303600/ ;) These short water pumps were also used in 1966-77 Ford Broncos and 1969-74 Econolines to shorten them up.
