I've started a new project with a 46 Chevrolet 3/4 ton pickup. It currently has 8 bolt split rims. I want to change the axles to 6 bolt rims like on the 1/2 ton pickup. Any ideas?

I don't know if you can swap out the 3/4 ton axles for 1/2 ton axles as those rear ends are different. I am not even sure if you could weld up the holes in your 8 bolt axles and redrill them for 6 bolts. The simple way would be to swap rear ends including the springs and mounts.

Here are a couple of links that may give you some help:

Maybe someone else can jump in here.

One is to change out the axles with half ton bolt pattern..the other is to get the new style rims for tubeless tires..that is the easier way..changing out split rims for modern tubeless tires has been done a lot on older trucks..and the wheels for that are readily available..
