Hi all.

Does the steering collum of a Chevy Van fitt in my 1976 Suburban.
My turn signal switch is bad, the horn doesn't work, the gear handle is sloppy and I would like to have the wiper switch on the collum.
If so, what model/year do I have to look for?
Or do I need one out of an earlier Truck?

Greetings, Pieter

WELCOME to Hotrodders.com :welcome:

I do not believe the columns will interchange...... :( and I know the wiring is different....because of the wiper control.....

The turn signal and the horn would be a reasonably easy repair....

again WELCOME.....

I found a steeringcolumn out of an 1985 army Blazer.
Wiper, high beam and direction signal al in one.
Just have to make an interface between the connectors of the old switches and this column.
The not so easy part is removing the old lock cilinder...
The Manuals say: "Insert a thin rod into the turn signal housing slot. Keeping the rod to the right side of the slot, BREAK the housing flash loose and depress the spring latch at the lower end of the lock cilinder".
Well, the bottom of this slot is not open. Does this mean that I have to smash through the bottom of this slot?
By the way, I'm in a hurry  I need my ride for a kids party, so I'll risk it. It's the old steering column :smash: .

Okay. That was real easy :D
Very thin bottom. Took my smallest screwdriver and gave it a knock. Out with the lock cilinder.
The newer column has a different system. A retaining screw, but the old lock fits and locks. Ah, me so happy :D
