Steering shaft reverse

I've taken a late model IFS to my deuce frame. I've mounted the rack behind the axle line, when stock it was in front, and I'm working out reversing the steering shaft to steer correct. Anyone been through this and what was your solution, please?

Gears have lash... which you don't want in steering...

I thought you were talking about something like the steering on my Ford Crown Vic... from the steering wheel, the shaft goes forward, then doubles back, then forward again... weirdest thing I ever saw... Ford had a better idea... Guess it beats the early '60's Galaxy's with the steering box mounted to the frame and the front wheels on a rubber mounted subframe free to wiggle about independently...

Well that's certainly an eyeful. 13th post since 2002... Yep, Ackermann looks right... Brace around the steering notch in a critical area of the frame, give the driven shaft some more chain wrap and...after that, you know a heluva lot about what you're doing than I do! My hat's off to ya. Would be nice to not have to do the steering shaft reverse but I doubt you're the type to let that stop you...

Here's a peek at a likkle mo' :)

Yeah, I already have the set up for this matching C-4 p.s. rack, shortened the tie rods just outside the boot for Ackermann. The extended tie-rod arms from the front knuckle are from a matching pair of rear knuckles. Sort of a techie rat rod so the gear-reverse steering will be ok if I can pull it off. After giving some thought to the lash issue BuzzLOL brought up ~ I think I can fine tune the gear meshing at the bottom of the column with leverage from adjusting the column at the drop (steering wheel).

Thanks for replies * guys.

Joe - just because I already have the original ps rack and just thought I'd be creative ;) . I know ~ it's the long way around ....

S!10 - I think it's the camera angle on those upper ball joints. And I plan to raise the frame up front another inch or so, which will take that bind possibility out, I think. Good eye though, thanks*

Buzz - The Ackerman pix are before (pass. side) and after (driver's side) - believe me, they are both the same

S10 and Enjenjo - I was reluctant to go to yet another this-n-that interface with manufacturers (corvette and after-market), and currently in process of setting up the reversing gears, but if it starts to get difficult - that Jag rack sounds good. I already had the original rack come with the front end, so anything else will be another buy.
