I'm collecting parts to build a '32 or earlier roadster the details of which have not yet been decided. Could someone please comment on the suitability of a rearend out of a 3/4 ton '79 Chevy van (ten bolt cover).

For the money go 9" ford.. many peoplefun narrowed 9". the chev one will work strength wise, unless you're gonna run 400hp, but Im not sure about the axles. The housing is easy to narrow, but the axles need to rbe respined and may not work. I'm trying to get info from a pal in Portland OR. he had his all narrowed recently, I'll get back to ya when I find out more.
desertrodder,gm 10 bolts and me havent got along![i break them]not much difference with a 12 bolt!im presently asking everyone a similar question since i have no experience with ford 9 ".however, every thing ive heard about the ford rear is good.jimm
POSSIBLE SUGGESTION! Find a 10 bolt posi rearend from early to mid 90's GM caprice or roadmaster.These rearends have a tough carrier and 30 spine axles.May have to weld brackets if using leaf springs,and if older rims are used have stud holes redrilled to fit them!
