T-475 tail housing and output shaft questions

I have a th475 it has the wonderfully useless motorhome tail housing that has the bolt on yoke and ebrake. Now i want it to be a slip yoke. So i bought a slip yoke just to give it a try and the bearing in the tail housing said no you can't put that thing in here its outer diameter is too big. So is the output shaft the same as the one on a bolt on th400? and if so can i just swap for a slip yoke housing or a bolt on housing and use a slip yoke. I have read that I need a special slip yoke to slide over the bolt on output shaft while other say i just need to remove a oring. I would like to use an aftermarket tail housing with a bearing instead of a bushing. I would like to make these changes without changing the output shaft as the trans appears to be just like new inside.
I hope this isn't too confusing.

btw first post in years :welcome: glad to be back :)

You remove that MH housing. Bolt on a regular chevy style 2WD housing for the large diameter yoke. Buy a slip yoke designed to slip over the O-ring on the shaft. Dennys Drive Shaft carries proper yokes.

You will see the O-ring on the shaft when you remove the MH housing.

If you want a roller bearing housing, they are available. Expensive.

You also need a special hardened yoke for the aftermarket roller bearing tail housing.

What did you find to convert your tailshaft on the th475 I have just purchased a motor home wit the same trans and a 454 to put in my c10 thanks? And Dennys is still sold out of the yoke mentioned earlier so I assume they discontinued it
