Hey everyone

Just wondering if anybody could tell me how to tap into the fuse box of your car for adding accesories etc?

Not sure on what you do to tap into it.

Thanks

Doc here, :pimp:

On GM fuse busses, (and most other's too) There are a series of Vacant Slide terminals in the center or one side , Marked "IGN" , "BATT" , and "ACC"..

These will accept a standard wire with a Blue slide terminal on it..and work on whatever function you select, either key on, hot at all times or Accessory.

If you use one of these, don't forget to install an in-line fuse if the device you will be powering is unfused..these taps are unfused.

Hey Doc,

Do you know about a Painless Fuse box?? I need to add a HOT wire to one of the spare (empty) terminals on the fuse box. My question if i use a standard "spade" terminal it will work but does not hold very secure and seems like it would vibrate out. The terminal looks like it would take some kind of special connector to lock in?? I looked at Painless website and did not find any such connector?? Would this be a standard GM connector ??

ANY HELP

THANKS

I believe that what you need is known as a GM "56" connector. ("PED" stamp = Packard Electrical Division)

Packard Electric Division of GM “56 series” terminals are used throughout wiring systems in many years of GM cars and trucks. These terminals can replace corroded or damaged ...
We used to sell un-insulated at NAPA (Belden Wire & Cable). The female has a little "tang" inside that falls into a recess or hole in the male connector that prevents it from coming apart easily.

Grote # 84-2897 Male

These Grote brand connectors might also do the job for you. They're constructed a little bit differently, but the "dimple and hole" idea is much the same.
