The thrush dont sound as deep as the 40s , maybe a little tinny but there still loud. I love driving through wallmart parking lot, if theres a car alarm set with in 50 feet it goes off. Try Borla, ive heard some at the track and they are alot quite'er.

 

For the price of Thrush mufflers, it wouldn't hurt to try a pair. You might also look into Borla or Magnaflow.

the 40s and thrush welded are the same design. how bout thrush turbos?

 

I've been told that Dynomax SuperTurbos and an H-pipe will give a good low tone without any drone. However, I haven't tried switching yet.

The h pipe will make it quieter.

 

I definitely can not fit an H pipe under my car (exhaust would hang too low) and I'm not too fond of the thrush turbo mufflers I blew one up when I backfired.

 

I was wondering how much difference there are in the two, I've currently got 40 series on my car and think I want something a little quieter and with a little less drone in the interior. I have 2.5in exhaust with long tube headers and was wondering if the thrush welded mufflers might be a better choice for my car. The 40's I like, they just get a little too much attention at times, and a little noisy inside of the car. So basically I am wanting to find something that is quieter with less drone, if Thrush isn't it tell me what is. Thanks.

Also I don't know if it helps but I have a comp cams xe274h, I don't want to hide the sound of the cam, just quiet things down. I would also like the mufflers to be decent performance mufflers, not that I'll ever tell a difference.

if its too loud inside the car, what about sound deadening? something aloing the lines of FAT MAT, or dyna mat?

 

I got xlerator mufflers on my car cause I was wanting to tone it down. I was running 18in glass pacts that dumped underneath the front seats. It was terrrible. I order Dynomax Hemi Superturbo mufflers but they wouldn't come close to fitting under my car. The exhaust shop got had the xlerator mufflers in stock. When I first got them I thought they were too quiet but they have burned in a little after the hundred miles or so and sound good.

its an older thread so im sure you have found something but you might try the flowmaster delta 40's. it is the same as the 40 series but with drone cancelling technology

 

If you want to cancel te drone then run an h or x pipe. Leave the mufflers alone.

If that's still not enough add some glass packs inline with your flowmasters.

 

I wanted a louder muffler I had a Magnaflow muffler and I went with a 40 like you have the Mag was a mellow sound.

I don't see anything wrong with bringing back an old thread. They can be helpful to some of us.

You never know who has the exact same questions and the old thread might keep him from making unnecessary changes.

People gripe when you don't use the search button and people gripe when you do. Is rather see the old threads brought back then answer the same question 500 million times but maybe that's just too practical for some.

 

I completely agree, as there are several long term members that may have been involved in the original thread and will remember it instead of cluttering things up with a completely new thread on the same topic.

 

I have never used or heard a muffler as tinny /dronny( but still I love more than anything else), as the flowmaster 40, so that being said I think any other muffler will quite it compared to it imo.
