I have an older Hanson/Hawk Tach/dwell meter for 6 or 8 cylinder engines and don't really know how to hook it up. It just has two leads, red and black, with alligator clips. I'm trying to set up my 1981 Camaro with HEI ignition.

there should be to leads, 1 red which would go on the - post on the coil and the other to ground. there should be a selector for 6 or 8 cyl. .use 8 for 4 cyls. and set it double. if there are 4 leads, then it would hook to the battery, but never seen on that had a battery hook up.
For HEI hook up the red lead to the tach connector on the cap of the HEI. Black lead to ground.
