Verizon Wireless? Anyone Use It?

I'm switching service providers and have decided that Verizon Wireless is probably my best choice. I want to know do any of you guys use them? Do you like your service? I would go with T Mobile but they are GSM and I need a digital plan to get good signal at my house. My only other option for digital service is Sprint.

I'm on an AT&T family plan right now. It flat out sucks. AT&T recieved the lowest rating in a recent issue of Consumer Reports, Verizon Wireless got the highest rating.

As of right now, not all of my incoming calls are going through. Which is really nice. I missed a call for work, that screwed me out of an 8 hour day on a high paying state rate job. I have people that I don't see on a regular basis thinking I'm a jerk for not calling them back. I'm still contracted for 9 months, AT&T can't figure out what the problem is. They sent me a new phone and it does the same thing. I'm really tired of the BS and I'm getting a new service provider, I'll worry about fighting with AT&T for free service canclation later.

Thanks guys.

Mike

I've had sprint, cingular and nextel...

They all suck.

I do get all of my calls, though, even if they drop every ten minutes. I have cingular right now. Nice thing is that they will transfer your old phone number over for you, so you don't have to BS around with trying to get everybody to call a different number.

well, according to the "similar threads" section at the bottom of this thread, if you can't find a decent service, apparently you can just get a wireless third brakelight.

Ive had verizon for going on 8 months now and I dont reckon I can complain about too much. I rarely miss calls and dont lose service too often. Considering I live in one county, go to school in the next and am seeing a girl about 1:30 hr/min away and I dont lose signal but about twice during the whole ordeal verizon is not too bad. Speaking of which its about time for an update....

I have sprint and I always get my calls. I get so many calls to come through, I get more wrong numbers than I do right ones. I have been meaning to go and see about changing my phone number because sometimes if I leave it on over night, I get waken up by some dudes fax machine trying to fax me on my cell phone at 4am!

I have had Verizon for my home phone service for 6 years, and for my cell services for 8 years now.

When I switched from my analog cell to digital I lost a small amount of capability, but they have added quite a few towers in my area and updated their existing towers to increase signal in existing areas.

I lost service inside my own home with the upgrade to digital, until I recently switched cell phones.

Looking at their coverage areas, Verizon has the best in my area as they have the most towers (they actually lease tower space to other cell services). My sister and most of her friends have Cellular One, and their coverages are quite noticabally less than what I have.

i went from cingular to verizon. Both had about equal coverage. What I found about my particular area is that Cingular was about average on service quality all over. Verizon has much better service in a lot of areas, but some areas it just plain sucked.

I could get crystal clear calls driving through the middle of pudunk Kansas on my way to Vegas, but sitting in my Apt in the middle of Lafayette, I get crap signal.

Overall I'm happy with Verizon tho, much happier then with Cingular. Especially the customer service (or diservice in Cingular's case)

phone

Hey Mike, I have verizon for my house, shop and cell. I really cannot complain about the service. All my other phone plans would loose coverage from cecil till about rt 1 on my way home.... With verizon i have coverage all the way...

Thanks guys! I appreciate all the feed back, especially from the PA residents on here. I called and got a contract today, my new phone should be here tomorrow.

Had Cingular. Dropped calls all the time. Switched to Verizon and hardly ever miss a call. Not satisfied with the phone though. It takes too long to turn on and off. The best setup I had was with Verizon and my Startac phone.

I've had Verizon for 3 plus years. Really no problems to speak of. They give you a new phone every 2 years. They advertise DSL service in this area for 29.95 per month, but I am a quarter mile outside the range of any broadband service period. That really stinks. My dialup maxes out at 26.4.
