A Ford 9 inch will take the power you have. What you need to do to find out what ratio to use is decide how you are going to be driving your car. Are you going to be cruising or racing? For a cruiser I would pick a ratio around 3.08 for highway and economy. If I were going to race/drag and do burnouts I would pick a ratio more towards a 4.11 or high numerically. The bottom line is deciding how you want to drive then gearing for that usage. Rear end options are many and costs can vary from hundreds to thousands. There are some good rear end posts here, hope this helps a little.

what's a good rear end

Yeah Cause it's a Ford Keep it Ford 9 In . Best found in Ford Pick up's . Several different version's of these Differential's . There actually A Traction Lock Differential . What Ford call's um . What your Probably lookin for is the Dual Pinion houseing 3;83 think is ratio on the lowerd geared one's . Think Lighter 6 cyl Truck's came with single Pinion gear Pumpkin in a 2.77 gear Ratio . Heavier the Truck or bigger the motor you find lower gear ratio , more heavy duty dual pinion pumpkins . Axles are I beleive 31 Spline and or 32 Spline . Cant remember wich Axles are considerd heavier Duty . Last Dual pinion Houseing I bought Was 10 Year's ago Rann me 500 buck's for just the, used Pumpkin . Do you well too Buy a Old Ford pick up 100 Buck's in some ones feild' if Gear ratio was Right ? Check the Tech Post in here or Article's . Sean

3.50 would be agreat for a cruiser,

3.42 also

etc

an 8.5" Gm would be more than plenty strong, you wont break one in your ride, no way

but not many are deeper geared, most were smogger ratio, soo..

the 70s ford trucks alot of the time had 31 spline and 3.50 ratio 9"

and alot were 4.10 in the early 70s and before such as the 69 f-100's for example

good luck

The HO350 330hp crate engine is a Vortec 350 with a mild flat tappet cam instead of teh Vortec 350's roller cam setup.

the Vortec 350 is rated at 255 net hp and is about 310-320 gross hp and the 350ho crate is 330 gross hp.
A 10 bolt 8.5" rearend will do fine behind that engine.
