Whats the best 4 barrel intake manifold and what size carb and brand for a 1963 283 Impala, all stock engine, dual exhaust with a powerglide?

i would suggest a edel c3b, if you are running points dist. the c-3b won't clear a hei dist without some work on the back right runner. or edel performer.small carb 500/525 cfm.
I agree with Feddo. Im not a fan of Edelbrock performer carbs. But on a small engine like a 283, the 500 cfm Edelbrock is a good choice. John

I had a '62 Impala SS with a 283 2 bbl., dual exhaust, cast iron Glide and 3.36 gears. While the '62 2 bbl. 283 had lower compression and crappier heads it was close to your setup. I ran a '66 327/300HP square bore cast iron intake and a 600 Holley. Manifold worked great but the 600 was WAY too much carb! The C3B was a good intake and would definitely be the right vintage if you wanted to keep your car period correct but the runners are quite a bit bigger than the 283 heads so there will be a mismatch but in the day thousands of them ended up on 283's so it's well proven that it does "work". If I still had my '62 and had it to do over I'd hunt down an old Edelbrock SP2P with a Q-Jet, 450 Holley spreadbore or the 500 Edelbrock. The stock 283 isn't good for much over 4500 and the SP2P will do that on a 283.

I really like my Edelbrock carb & Performer intake on my '66 truck. I never in all my driving (since '62) have had such a trustworthy & smooth carburetor. I think a lot of that has to do with the electric choke.( I had a '63 just like yours back in the late sixties, with the factory 2 barrel. I ran it hard for about 120,000 miles with that same carb.) I think the 500 cfm is a good choice for your application.
