what is the difference? they look identical. they both say weber on the side. and there is $70 difference between the two at summit. are you just paying for the edelbrock name?

thanks

Edelbrock wanted to expand and carry carburetors, and it was much more cost effective to purchase existing designs. Looks like both Carter AFB and Rochester Quadrajet were receptive to selling. What surprises me is that I see that Edelbrock has actually brought out new models in both series. And regardless of your feelings for specific brands, competition will give us a better product from all manufacturers.

I'll bet the Edelbrock is the more expensive carb? I know that the Edelbrock rebuild kit is a lot more money than the Carter, and both rebuild kits are the same as far as I can tell.

The only real difference in the two is the length and spacing of the steps on the metering rods. I'm not sure if they are interchangeable but most likely are. Both the Carter and Edelbrock carbs are manufactured by Webber (as the WW casting mark on both carbs indicates) and they come down the same assembly line.

For most all street combinations these are really good carbs. It's very hard to over carb with an AFB design like you can easily do with a Holley. The Holleys have tuning advantages when it comes to all out racing though.
