Hi
Im building a little ride to cruise around the block

What I know about the engine are
383 chevy with a holley 4160
MSD 8360 blaster 2. Cam comp cam xe268h-10
, Intake Weiland Action Plus 8120,
Edelbrock E-Street Heads, rollers rockers
In the papers there are some reciptes for eagle 5140 i-beam rods, Eagle pistons etc Got a dual AFR guage.
I done the ignition with vacuum gauge and set it to idle 14° with out v.advance and 34 total that seems like a good starting point.
Im will only do a rough tune now as I got alot of other stuff to do.

Only annoying thing I cant leave are that I got a hesitate when throttle from idle.
I idle at AFR 13 but when blipping the throttle the AFR go to 16-17.
How trusty are a fluxulating reading on a AFR meter?
If it is should I look into the acc. Pump circut?
I have rebuilt the holley but dit not put a lot of time checking the clearence for the throttle/acc pump.

Adding info like cam specs and compression ratio is helpful information. While the engine like and engine is a collection of parts the whole is a system where all these parts function in a concert.

My knee-jerk from the AFR is tye mixture is going in the wrong direction when you blip the throttle, it should go toward more fuel in tye AFR not less. Whether that is a quirky reading from the sensor and gauge or whether the carb is falling lean is another dimension to problem solving. Assuming the instrumentation is truthful the carb need to be putting in more fuel. This might be not enough accelerating pump or the power valve doesn't switch on of the main jets are too lean though given the AFR before you whacked the throttle I have that eventuality pretty low on my problem list.

The first places I’d go is accelerating pump stroke and or the power valve.
