Excuse me.. Gilmer belts are a well proven method of power transmission and do not slip. Gilmer belt drives are even used as timing belts in some applications notably the Pinto 4 cylinder comes to mind. We run them on our blower cars because of that and they do hold up when a conventional V-belt or serpentine belt will fail. just need to be careful on the setup to get the pulleys well aligned..

Roger that.
We run Gilmer and HTD belts on our race cars for the reliability in the dirt, mud, water, RPM, and they work great and last a long time. We use them on Bell housing mounted power steering, oil, and fuel pumps off the back of the crank.

They are more expensive and possibly overkill for street application.

A huge advantage no one has mentioned yet is the Gilmore and HTD style belts allow pulleys to be much smaller to slow the belt speed (feet per second) and still eliminate slippage. They also don't require as much tension as a V belt which has some bearing life merit. With a V Belt system you can only go small in diameter before you reduce the surface area for proper friction to drive the accessory.

Hey 51chopped, i ran that EXACT kit on my SBC 350, loved it. Makes a deceiving "supercharger wine" as well hahaha :p. In fact man i loved this kit so much that i tried contacting the manufacturer to see if they would machine me a crank pulley to fit my oldsmobile engine, sadly i could only get in touch with a vendor, manufacturer is over seas somewhere.

A good quality setup is a great way to go.. I have a fabricated setup on my gasser. Using various timing pulleys from later model metric stuff.

A customer of mine bought one that Summit sells and it is quite a disappointment. Supposed to be a bolt in for a BBC. After much alteration, the belt stays more or less centered, but will not stay on at high rpm. Way too much runout on the lower pulley and upper pulley is marginal..:pain:
