I have a 1972 chevy shortbox pickup and I want to eliminate the hanger bearing so my question is how long would I have to make a straight driveshaft . I have a turbo 400 transmission and a 12-bolt rear-end with 3.73 gears so if anyone has done this similar job I was wondering if you could give me some information on this, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Inland Empire Driveline Service's "how to measure for a new driveshaft site.

Denny's Driveshaft driveshaft measurement quik-chart.

I have contacted both of these shops and they will NOT build a steel driveshaft for my 1982 Chevy C-10 longbed truck with my Cadillac 500 and Th-400 transmission. They say its too long for them to guarantee their work. I actually need one 1-1/2 inches shorter than what came out of the truck which is an un usable shaft (bent).

The local driveshaft shop will build me anything I want and guarantee it just the same as those others will. Maybe better.
