Yep and Yep!chevy302builder18 said:aluminuim heads for around $300? Are these small block chevy heads?
The price gap between American and Chinese is huge. If you want American in that range, look for a used head.Choptop26 said:You are no doubt correct about the china thing and I would always rather give our team ( USA ) the work , so could you name some USA made heads ? I know Edelbrock is but not sure about the rest of them . Been looking at Pro Comp too , are they American made ? Thanks ...
Yes very true. If i had no other choice i would try and do that. Im having a fight with myself on these heads right now... 500 HP 383 doesnt sound bad. But chinese made stuff... Agh!!! It drives you crazy! I could go on and on.. But choose not to.... For everyones sakeLandshark928 said:The price gap between American and Chinese is huge. That being said, from a non-political standpoint, the ProComp heads have come a long way in quality. The PC heads do very well for the money and on a 450-500HP 383 build are good bet. Just make sure you buy them from a reputable dealer who will build them out with quality parts.
I bought my procomps built for about $600 for the pair with solid roller springs. I sold them when I was ready to upgrade and got $400. $200 loss isn't bad for a year's use of a decent head IMO. Had I bought Eddy heads and then wanted to upgrade, I would have lost more than $200.
We may not like giving the Chi-coms our money, but for some it is the only choice, based on budget if they want to participate in the hobby.
