going from 2.8 to a 305 help

I am switching from a 2.8 to a carburated 305 in a camaro, how do I hook up the distributer? Also if I wantedto use the 700r tranny, what do I do about the plug in on the tranny, is that in my harness for the computer or I thought I read something about a stand alone computer for this?

i'm going to use the HEI distributer, it has the coil in the cap, the 2.8 has a coil mounted by the exhaust,

hook up the old hot wire that was on the 2.8 ign to the HEI on the 305. the 700 trans from the 2.8 won't work on the 305, bellhousing is wrong.

so I hook up the hot from the 2.8 to the 305 hot wire, what about the tach? Thanx for the info on the 700R having the wrong bell housing, but I would be alrigt with a th350 and a shift kit should'nt I?

just plug the tach in at the tach terminal on the hei, the 350 turbo will require a different mount and driveshaft.

yeah, I'll have to buy that mount from jegs and get the drive shaft from the car the trany out of, about my distributer, the 2.8 has three plugs going in to it, is the tach the white one inside the cap, and then on the module there is 2 plugs, which one would be the hot?
