Try turning the distributor 180 degrees.

 

ok first of its an 83 chevy k10 with a mild 350 when i would start it up it would run great until the choke kicked off then ran like it had bad plug wires or somthing so i started testing the voltage going into the choke it was fine and i acidently bumped the plug on the alternator and it kicked up for a sec so i pulled it out and it ran great alternator test out good but changed it anyways since i had an extra the new on did the same thing so i put an older style distributor and bypassed that computer **** so that i could get it home it didnt make much power but ran smooth any ideas on what to test or what to replace i also tryed putin the old distributor back in and got in a hurry and didnt make my marks and cant get it to start i did the the hole tdc comp with the rotor pointing to #1 no luck tho i need some ideas

If it ran smooth with the new distributor, maybe the cap or rotor is bad on the old one. The lack of power could be due to not setting the timing correctly.
if it doesnt start at all now after reinstalling the original distributor, either it is not in properly or you dont have something connected. There are probably a hundred threads on here that explain how to install a distributor.
